Hotel Klettur is perfectly located only a 20 minute walk from Reykjavik's city centre. It's a fairly straightforward and pleasant walk among the shops too, so there's no need to worry about getting lost. The famous Hallgrímskirkja church is very close by as well, which makes the hotel itself a great spot to explore the city from. If you're looking at taking a coach tour, there is a pickup spot right outside the hotel which was very handy for us when we went on our Game of Thrones tour. The rooms themselves are simple but very comfortable and spotless. After our stay near Keflavik Airport, we checked in to Hotel Klettur for 2 nights, so that we were in a central location to explore Reykjavik and the surrounding area from. There is free parking available on the same street as the hotel too which is ideal. I'd definitely stay here again if I come back to Reykjavik. I had zero issues with it and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. So if you're looking for accommodation in Reykjavik, this is a great choice! Hotel Klettur
The reception area was very comfortable and fit in with the Icelandic theme. The whole hotel is designed in a similar modern way which I loved. The check in process was very simple as well, and we were given the keys to our room within minutes. There's also an area where they sell some souvenirs in case you have forgotten to buy some.
There was a great selection at breakfast. It was done in a buffet style, and there was a lot of continental options available, as well as a few hot food choices too. Breakfast starts early in the morning and I'd recommend having breakfast at the hotel rather than wandering around the city looking for somewhere to eat. If you're wanting a drink in the evening, there is a bar located in the same area as the breakfast room.
We were given a standard double room with breakfast included in our booking. The room has a simple design but it's very comfortable, and the heating works almost instantly too which was great. It also came equipped with blackout curtains, and free WiFi was available throughout the hotel.
Our bathroom was perfect. I have a thing about checking bathrooms as soon as I get into a hotel room, and this one was spotless. It came with a few shower necessities and a heated towel rail too.
There was also lots of storage spots in the room, and of course a kettle for those late night coffee or tea cravings. We had a television on the opposite wall which had some channels in English. We used this only a few times because I brought my laptop with me to watch Netflix.
The hotel lobby and hallways were full of decorative wall art like this. Some told fun stories about Iceland and its legends which was a personal touch. It made the hotel seem more homely in some ways.
There are a lot of hotels in Reykjavik city centre to choose from, many of which will blow a massive hole in anyone's budget. Iceland can get pretty pricey if you don't plan ahead, and the top hotels in Reykjavik don't come cheap. We were fortunate enough to find Hotel Klettur, which offers affordable accommodation in Reykjavik without compromising on its services and amenities. I would go as far to say that it's the best place to stay in Reykjavik outside of the fancy five star hotels.
