Treat Yourself to Dublin's Secret Food Tour

Any excuse to eat food and I'm there. Especially when I'm travelling. The food scene in Dublin is growing at a rapid rate, with a lot of traditional dishes getting a more modern twist placed on them. Sometimes it's hard to tell where's best to eat, or even what kind of food you should try. That's why Secret Food Tours is the only walking tour you need to go on, especially if you're only in the city for 2 days like we were. Prices for the tour start at €59 per adult, and you can upgrade that to a drinks package if you want. The meeting point was right across the road from Trinity College, underneath a statue, so it was very easy to find. If you have an dietary requirements or food allergies, you can mention this at the time of booking and they'll be more than happy to accommodate you.

You get to stop at a number of different locations, and sample some of the best food Dublin has to offer. Now, it is a secret tour, meaning you don't know where you're going until you get there. Yes, I have posted photos of SOME of the food, but you have options to choose from on the day, so I'm not spoiling anything for you, I promise. I honestly never know what walking tour to go on when I'm travelling, so I usually end up not joining one. From now on, whatever city I visit I'm going to check if Secret Food Tours are there. What better way to explore the streets of Dublin? We passed through a number of unique neighbourhoods during our food tour, and our guide gave us some helpful tips and advice on what restaurants and pubs to visit after the tour. One of the best things to do in Dublin is go on a walking tour, but it's even better when food is added to it.

Mhm, fresh bread. I don't know about you but as soon as I can smell bread baking I head in that direction. This bakery was part of a larger food hall, which had a small cafe in it where we were given samples of Irish cheese and other snacks.

So this was my first time trying white pudding, and it wasn't that bad! I'm not a fan of black pudding, so I thought this would be similar. I was pleasantly surprised though, and it goes well with the potato cake. This was one of the fancier stops during our secret food tour, and we had the opportunity to do a little bit of shopping too.

This spot was really interesting. I sampled some food I normally wouldn't even go near, and didn't hate it. That's the best part of food tasting in Dublin in my opinion, getting to try food you normally wouldn't order, and not feeling bad if you don't end up liking it.

Beef and Guinness pie. Because I obviously didn't get my fill of Guinness at the storehouse. The secret food tour gives you a great selection of traditional Irish food, and our guide gave us a lot of interesting history behind each of the dishes.

Whiskey is easy to come by in Ireland, but this experience was very unique. At this stop we sampled a few different types of delicious Irish Whiskey and were told about the processes each of them go through during production. Don't feel bad if you don't like whiskey. I'm not a fan of it either, but I had a little sip of each of them just to say that I'd given them a try.

Isn't Dublin beautiful? As well as stopping at a number of different places to sample food and drinks, we also passed by some lovely spots in the city. The Temple Bar area is located just next to the River Liffey, so you might as well take a stroll along the river before heading for a pint or two.

I promise you'll scream for this ice cream. I'm an ice cream lover, so this stop was perfect for me and I'll definitely be stopping by next time I'm in the city. This ice cream parlour is considered one of the best in Dublin, and didn't disappoint. They have a lot of flavours to choose from, and they let you sample each one before making the final decision. If this doesn't make it the best walking tour in Dublin then I don't know what will.
